Immunological Studies on the Milk of the Korean Woman

Abstract
In the previous reports the authors(Kwon) analysed the contents of the immunoglobuhns in the mature milk and colostrum of the Korean women, The present investigation concerned serological identification of the antigenic ¢¥factors in the milk that were related to blood serum proteins, by the Scheidegger¢¥s micro-immunoelectrophoretic technique, using the known antigenic substances in the serum as references.
As some qualitative and quantitative changes were found during lactation peirod, colostrum and mature.milk taken 6 weeks after parturition were used in the investigation, respectively. Twenty one cases of colostrum and 23~ cases of, the mature milk of the Korean women were analyzed. The electrophoretic Iocalization of the different : precipitates was determined by means of immunoelectrphoresis J n order to get a comparison, between the corresponding precipitate Hines obtained with milk and with blood serums.
The following blood serum proteins were serologically identified in the Korean milk:
Albumin, transferrin, IgA and IgG in all cases of the colostrum and the mature mik; Prealbumin in the 15 cases of the colostrum and in the 5 cases of the mature milk; a,-glycoprotein in the 15 cases of the colostrum and in the 5 cases of the mature milk; a2-lipoprotein in the 15 cases of the colostrum and in the 5 cases of the mature milk; IgM in all cases of the colostrum and no case of the mature milk. The most remarkable differences between the colostrum and the mature milk were noted by the presence or absence of IgM fraction.
